can i have a reason for nationalism

The Grand Hotel in Taipei folded all the ROC flags in order to receive the chairman of ARATS, Chen Yunlin. Also, according to press, our government spontaneously clears all the flags along Chen's way of visit. If the good citizen of ROC carries the national flag to protest the visit, the ROC police will definitely make arrest and expropriate the flags. Why can't we show our nationalism on our own land? Why is "the protector of people" violently against its own when nothing is illegal but just showing the sovereignty of ROC? Too many questions unanswered and too many government officials lack the sense of being ROC officials. Our own government’s strange attitude creates this madness of lower our own national dignity. President Ma, our elected leader, seems to be afraid of his own title and the people he represents. When people asked why lower our national dignity and took out all the flags, he chose to ignore the voice and turn his back on his people.

This strange attitude also occurs in the minds of higher education educators. In an International Relationship class, a professor criticized that people who advocate ROC's dignity lack international views. I was shocked that such an irrational critique was from a highly respected professor who actually has influences over the doctoral students. The professor stated that Taiwan (ROC) should improve relationship with China (PROC) for the mutual benefits in economy and other interests; therefore, the sense of ROC is not important. Later on, he used the European Union as an example to strengthen his point. He did good to disguise his "one China" idea inside the ideally mutual benefits in economy. The professor would choose money rather his nationality. As a reminder to the professor; when Nicolas Sarkozy visits Spain, the Spaniards do not hide their flags. Shouldn't a professor teach the students the way of critical thinking rather then brain washing them to his own personal view?

At last, please, do not color or label me. I do love to see Taiwan become more prosperous and peaceful. the soil i grew up is here, Taiwan; the history and culture i shared is Republic of China. The People's Republic of China is not my motherland.
